This article describes the authors’ teaching experience in flipping the class of a basic undergraduate mathematics course Introductory Linear Algebra. We utilize a full featured free electronic textbook, online lecture notes, an intranet learning management system (LMS) i-campus, the video-sharing website YouTube and a Computer Algebra System (CAS) SageMath in our flipped classroom approach. Prior to coming to the class, the students are assigned a portion of reading assignments from the free e-book and to watch recorded video lectures from YouTube that cover the relevant materials. Hence, both out-of-class and in-class sessions are filled with active learning and interactive engagement. The essential part of subject could be fully covered with our free online math calculation tools in a python- based cloud computing environment. This will allow our students to be prepared for new majors (data science, insurance actuaries, big data, and artificial intelligence) that need more qualified college graduates.
