York River State Park

From 10:00 to noon, York River State Park will have a volunteer beautification program for our native plant arboretum.  We will be leading our Taskinas Trek from 1 to 3 pm.  We will also promote our Bluebird Loop Trail as a great way for people with accessibility issues to enjoy the park.

The Taskinas Creek Trail is one of the most beautiful and challenging hikes in eastern Virginia. Experience the elevation changes of rollercoaster like ravines. Keep an open eye for eagles in flight and muskrat taking a swim.  Take in the panoramic views of the marsh and observe the wildlife.  As part of the BioBlitz Species Inventory Challenge (http://www.nationalgeographic.com/explorers/projects/bioblitz), we will take a count of the various types of plants and animals observed along the way!

More information can be found by visiting the Virginia Geographic Alliance’s registration site (http://tinyurl.com/VGABioBlitz2016) or contacting the park representatives.
