The Longwood University BioBlitz is an extension of the inaugural 2016 event sponsored by the Virginia Geographic Alliance (VGA) which included school, state and national parks across the state. Longwood continued the tradition and partnered with the VA Association of Science Teachers (VAST) to expand it each year.
