Eligibility Requirements: You need to be: (1) A citizen, national, or permanent resident of the United States; (2) Currently employed full-time in a United States school system at the K-12 level; and (3) Have at least three years of full-time teaching experience.

What the program pays for: Round-trip international airfare plus…program-related travel within the host country, room and board, and miscellaneous expenses.

What you pay for: $450.00 plus…passport, visa, travel insurance, miscellaneous personal expenses.

Application Deadline: Wednesday February 5, 2014 at 4:30pm EST

To Apply, go to www.g5.gov and register.

Once registered, login and initiate a new application for the Fiscal Year 2014 Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program CFDA 84.018A.  Follow these steps to begin the process of applying:

  • Go to the “Grant Setup” menu at the top of the page.
  • Click on “Package Submission”.
  • If it’s your first time creating an application package for this grant competition, you will simply click      on the button that says “Initiate New Application” which will take you to another screen that lists all of the open grant competitions at the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Select the radio button next to the application for “Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad” and click      “Continue”.
  • The application has now been added to your personal list. You can select the radio button next to the      application and click on “Modify Application”.
  • The screens that follow this one will allow you to fill out the appropriate forms and upload your essays      into the G5 system.

Also on the G5 homepage, there is a link to online training under the Main menu.  Clicking on the link will bring up topics on the left hand side of the screen — look for the one titled “G5 for Applicants”.
